Entry hall with a slat wall, a bench and a plant

A St. Louis shop

Crystal Slat grew out of a bare entry hall in St. Louis and a search for a slat wall that did not need a carpenter. The catalog stays short, and every email gets a reply from us directly.

Good to know

Which tone should I pick?

Order the Calder Color Sampler first if you are unsure. Seeing the nine tones next to your floor and furniture in real light makes the choice much easier than judging a photo.

Do I need tools or a contractor?

No contractor needed. A level, a pencil, a utility knife and either glue or double-sided tape cover most walls, and there is no framing to build behind the panels.

What kind of wall can Calder go on?

Smooth, dry indoor surfaces such as painted drywall or sound plaster. Leave out shower walls, damp basements and exterior walls.

How do I work around an outlet?

Mark the cover on the panel, slice the felt with a utility knife and cross the strips with a fine saw. The Calder Saw and Blade Kit includes both tools.
